Giclée (pronounced shee-clay) is French for “spray of ink.” It is the name given printing technology, some forms of which are proving to be the finest, most enduring method of art reproduction ever introduced.

Reproductions of original Ellen Rice paintings marked Giclée are hand-pulled by the artist using the same equipment, archival papers, canvas and inks used by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Independent German study results show these beautiful, true to the original, individually printed reproductions have an archival life of 100 to 200 years.

When properly framed, Ellen Rice’s Giclées may be hung in bright rooms without worry of fading. It is NOT ever recommended that any fine work of art be placed in direct sunlight, though Ellen has done this for extended periods to conduct private tests on her reproductions. The result, after leaving a half-covered Giclée of Dancing Grasses in a south facing window for the full month of August was absolutely no change in color at all.
